Hmm. There were a lot of good traders at the investors live chat room that were not admin. Too bad I was getting to like a lot of people in there. Not sure the skilled traders will pay for it.

Well hopefully somewhere a pay free chat room will rise again for such traders but i wish you luck with your new pay model.

I agree with oulous, I really enjoyed my short time there.

I have heard this room is nice...and free...see you there.

the room was great, inspring, a feeling of a whole community I loved it. It was the best thing on the net by far. I've met many trading friends from this site and wish you all nothing but the best! Thanks Muddy for the inspiration and the knowledge to become a better trader.

Nobody can question the evolution to a paid service for the chat, it was too good to stay free for long, but I do question the suddeness of it. No forewarning or preparation, at least not publicly, so that people could come to terms with it. I would have appreciated a little longer preview period. Some kind of paid premium service in parallel to some level of free service could have maintained a vibrant and growing chat population. Imho the "shock" treatment will discourage some that could have paid and continued in the chat room if treated otherwise...

Anonymous said...

I agree a little fore warning would have probably have been less of a shock...but then you have to deal with all the whining. From my experience in the Corp world -- you do it just the way it was done cut and dry. I think the service is well worth paying for as I have made money from the calls, so it will pay for itself in the future. Get in now while you can get it at $39/mo rather than $99/mo. From what I understand the old members will be grandfathered in at this price as long as they are a member. The site also has a very professional look and provides more info than the free site. I hope we don't lose too many people. Good Luck!

Charge for the Seminars and Lessons, even email alerts of entries and exits but leave the chat free. To pay to maybe get a few crumbs after the big money is already in probably is not to attractive to anyone with experience. Good luck I wont be back to pay for chat.

It is hard to understand why some people aren't willing to pay $39 a month for a goldmine in front of them. But then again, there are plenty of people in chat that don't do their homework (read blogs, research, chart) either. Seems like some just want everything handled to them on a silver spoon - sorry folks, it doesn't work that way in life - there are no free rides.

Anonymous said...

The question is if the chat room is going to continue as before? Granted, some people may not be moving forward with the pay service now but in general, will Muddy, Laura, IL, Tort, etc. be in on the chat or as somebody below mentioned, is that the end? I've really enjoyed the chat and have been and am learning so much. I would hate to see it go away.

Dear anonymous internet poster #7, for some people those monthly charges add up, and grouping those unwilling to learn with those unwilling to pay doesn't depict things as they are.

First off, I've really enjoyed the chat room on the days I've been able to sit in. I may even be inclined to pay for it if I weren't working during most trading days.

Got a couple of questions:

1. Will the chat logs still be available at day's end? They are extremely useful training tools!

2. Have you ever thought about a payment system that's more like a 'pay per play'? I get Wednesday mornings off- that's it. If I could pay $5 every day I joined the chat, you'd be getting $20/month. Giving people that choice might make a huge difference. Basically, if I'm using the room more than 8 days a month, the $39 plan would be better. Really, who wouldn't pay $5 for a tryout day? If they learned something or made a profit from the room, you got 'em. Just a thought.

Thanks,

Evan

Muddy,Laura,13th; Thanks so much for all you've taught me, your wisdom in the markets is inspiring.I wish IL would not have gotten involved at this point. Hope you'all fire up the old GOS chat again. Thanks again, your the best.

Always easier to make money with a subscription than trading. More users in chat actually helped momentum as people piled on and got positioned after calls were made. Good luck.

Paying will make your site no different than all other paying sites, you will essentially be competing with all the other hundreds if not thousands of comapnies for the same dollars, in my opinion your better bet would have been to grow your following and sell advertising spots......I have NOT made money on your site but I like the community calls. Calls on plays came not from just the administrators but from other memebers too....I wish you guys good luck....Just a question for MUDDY and LAURA, who were great before joining up with IL, why did you guys decide to merge with IL, was it to make it a pay site ?, Muddy and Laura tks for all the good times- cheers

Just like "reading" a chart, you could "read" this coming. Greed eventually gets even the most well intentioned. What the bankers don't seem to understand is that they were most likely gaining alot more from the extra momo created by the chat followers on their positions than they will ever gain in subscriptions. I have doubts their picks will do as well with 90% or more cut in followers that is sure to come after the trial period.

I believe I have given this site more than I have taken from it, sometimes even to the detriment of my own account in order to give timely alerts to help the community. Me pay for that? I don't think so.

Good luck with the sure to dwindle subscriber base. If you were a public company, I might short you.

yeah, exactly! Especially if he is getting to keep the bulk of the money from all these services and Muddy is only getting a "cut" You would think Muddy wouldn't lower himself to selling out.

I really enjoy the blogs Muddy, Laura. I hope you can continue to keep them going.

Anonymous said...

i agree we should go back to our old chat room at GOS. here we go IL is taking over muddy and laura

Anonymous said...

you really have to hand it to InvLive though. IL went from having a crappy little blog to convincing Muddy to give his site Muddy's stamp for years to come. All that with little or no price for IL and the greatest return for IL's site for years to come.

Anonymous said...

I am new, but I have to admit that muddy and laura are primarily traders and not teachers. They are helpful, and write useful articles. But for new comers it is really hard to know where to start. Even after reading all the blog posts on both blogs, and re-reading all the important posts, and watching the chats, it is hard to figure out how to succeed.

I really like IL's vision of creating muddy "carbon copies". It is more educationally useful than just asking everyone to read and reread all the blogs with no clear structure or guidelines on how to learn all these stuff.

Muddy is experienced with 45 years, so something that is now second nature and obvious to him is complex and mysterious to new comers. Hopefully IL and tort can help shed some light in simpler terms for new comers.

i feel ripped by IL....he wanted us to invite friends and spread the word of the great free chat room....and i did spread the word......i hope you enjoyed the free advertisement?
I enjoyed the free chat room.

First of all... I understand what those people are saying about this chat being free... and I understand why the ones who are saying WTF??? You couldn't say anything??? Jesus!I loved it here!!! Most of all, I loved what Muddy and Laura stood for! Two people really making there way, lol! Trading! ha! We don't know now what was true and what wasn't, lol!!! If they were all just working for this they could have lied about anything/any trades.... Tort said in his interview that he didn't respect people who did this (like Sykes) because if they really could make money doing what they did so well, why would they need to charge a bunch of people money for their BS! He also mentioned that this was why he respected Muddy and Laura.... lol.... I fell for it... I actually REALLY respected them!!! lol!!! But since this InvestorsLive crap.... They are just another Sykes it seems... Like everyone else... They are no longer anyone special.

I'm with you oulous!!! Whatever! It was nice to have a Trader's community who's real motive was to actually trade and benefit from other Traders...

F#$%ing hard to find... lol!

I agree with a lot of people here... It's not that the info isn't worth it... It's what they stood for before! Fu#k! I hate to see them become another what the F ever! I would have paid this if they had approached it differently I think... Just SUCKS!

And whoever it is that is posting repeatedly about why the heck aren't people willing to pay the fricking 39.95? or what ever the F it is??? ha.... Not only is that $10 more than most services ( and probably worth it) at least with Muddy and Laura... the rest of you be damned, lol!!! But it really has to do with the Muddy and Laura standing for more... Being more... Being Real people who had really figured it out!!! ha! I would have totally purchased one of their DVD's, lol... But not this... I will NOT purchase this...

Sad...

Well I doubt I can create the same momentum but you are more than welcome to join me via a skype chat room. Find me as oulous via skype and I can add you to a chat room there. The chat room can be open to anyone and if your skills as a trader come through I can add you in to my other room which is full of traders that are equal or better than Muddy. We could care less about making money off people because we make our money trading. I would love to retire one day and teach people for a fee but in the mean time I see no reason to charge for a chat room.

kshelia said...

I have just one more thing to say... the price is stupid/wicked! WTF? If you had maybe warned us first and said "Hey"... "You guys that are already members here"... you get a discount! lol!!! I mean like it would have been totally cool if you'd charged us like $15 a month, you know, like half of the reasonable $30/mo you should be charging at the most, lol.... IDK!!! Just a thought!

And Yes Oulous! I will be there...

I can't say if the proper momentum will take place but anyone who wants to is welcome to join a free skype chat trading room. Follow the link or go to my blog by clicking on my name. http://wenonot.blogspot.com/

Eric here, I appreciate all the help I have gotten from everyone about trading. Unfortunatly I refuse to pay for this service even at a discounted fee. Enjoy watching your numbers dwindle. Hard to recruit new people for $99 a month. Thanks for all your help. Later

Hi Eric,
Not picking a fight, but it's $99 quarterly. That's just shy of $400 a year. Give it a year and hope that it's not another Tim Sykes site.

I just hope that the Admins or who ever is taking profit from the subscription actually make good on their business and attend to their subscribers and answer any and all questions despite how often the question is repeated. Before the room was subscription based I could understand the frustration with newbs asking for handouts, but the whole nature of Muddy's purpose for the blog seems to have changed. I could be wrong.

Also, if anyone has been paying attention in the room, it was rumored that the chatroom would turn subscription base. No big surprise.

Good luck everyone. It was good while it lasted. I hope Muddy and L still are available to answer questions regarding "I'm Gonna Try"

DaveH said...

last anon, Eric is referring to the 'regular' pricing once the promo is up. That IS $99/month.

My comment from the GOTS blog:

Oh well, premieretrader.net is and always will be free with just as many quality traders (few shorts though).

What they will discover is likely much more selfishness and much more whining - pay for a service, if it goes foul, you will blame the leader much more vocally. Also, as I said, why give help if you have to pay to be there - pretty much anyone that pays will just sit there and harass for answers and do nothing but mirror trade now - bye bye community and level playing field...IMH

If this wasn't what muddy/laura wanted, then why cave in? Not like their hands are tied (unless they wrote up some crazy contract when they started IL)...hell, they can use my old chat platform if they need a place to start over!

bye bye, it was good while it lasted

He gave us a lot of guidance and he gave us the "method," which, by the way, is still valid and still available free of charge (as of now).
Listen to the message... He's "telling" us to go and why shouldn't he... he's given us all we need to prosper! I intend to do just that, prosper as a full-time trader someday... and someday just maybe, if I feel I can trade enough to pay for the $39subscription, join in the pay chat.

I'm grateful for what was given to us. Too bad about the way it was implemented though... could have been a more gracious transition for those of us who bought into the "community" aspect of this but that's our problem for buying in. He owed us nothing and promised nothing... and despite what we may have created in our minds, we were not his friends. We were liquidity to possibly move a stock or future subscription clients.
That's the way of the capitalist world and it's the worst way, except for all the others!

$99? That's a joke- Pure Greed...
A good trader makes money from trading- why bother with a subscription base chat? When you can get the same information for FREE from boards etc. I know for a fact that this will fail-- Some other person will come up with an idea of a Free chat, and the rest will flock there-

heres a good one use the active trader chat

Very sad, sorry to see that they are not really different at all. I told so many people about the chat and how Muddy and Laura were great, it's a free trading community. I did learn a lot but I won't be paying for it.

Anonymous said...

Guys, you wanted to make it commercial..but it's just too early to make it commercial...You have to attract so many people. You want to make money, why can't you do it with google ad's until you get enough crowd. There are lot of fine traders I doubt would come back and pay for their services. Eitherway, I should thank for each and everyone's input

Muddy and others

There is nothing wrong with making this a pay-for-chat model. I just think it's a bit too much to start off with. As a starter, I wish you had offered the chat for a lesser price (and increase it after few months) after gaining more recruits. 99$ is a bit too much (particularly for those who are not full time traders and get in and out of chat everyday)

cheers

financialchat is ok, but they are more large cap stuff and not as 'active'...yawn...more sub $10 at premieretrader.net and I believe also internetplays.com (although I always found it buggy at that one unless you went through IRQ). Pennychat.com also for otc/pinks....all free, forever free - billpanetta also has one on paltalk.

As I said...chat, wrong place to make money - its about community, its about higher sets of eyes finding the plays, its people helping people.

Only chat I know of part of a paid subscription is timmy - that should say how low that is!

Anonymous said...

its not $99 all previous members were offered a heavy discount

if you are too selfish and just expect 5 hours of teaching every night u are just unbelievable

i made 3k in there today and will buy you a subscription sheeesh

THE parties over kids...wha! wah! wah! phuck it. You don't need no stinkin chat to do this shit. I found it to be more of a distraction and the Scott HOD list is a JOKE! It scrolled so friggin fast it was useless since it had no filters on it. Now get the hell outta here, focus on your shit and go make some real money!
later....
