CONTEST! #2 NUTS and TIMMAY

Congrats to InvestorsUnderground member Angie_K for the winning guess in this week's FAZ contest! FAZ closed at 61.93 yesterday and Angie's guess was 62.28.

Due to the number of late (and invalid) entries, we're giving everyone more time to enter this contest. Our next contest will be to predict the closing price of FAS on March 13th.

All contest entries must be posted on this blog post only and must be posted by 9:30am est Monday 3/9. Only one entry per person please so please add your name/handle to your entry. If we have a tie, we'll have a run-off contest.

We're a bunch of trading nuts over at IU and we think you should go nuts too! Therefore, the winner of this contest receives a $50 gift certificate to Nuts Online!

Anyone can enter the contest and win the prize above. As an added bonus though, if the winner is a current InvestorsUnderground member they will also be awarded their choice of any one of Timothy Sykes' instructional DVDs. That's up to $497 retail value!

Timmay and nuts in the same post! Gotta love it.

~Good luck all!

WATCHES 2/27

Some nice run charts again tonight

CAB MI CRBC FITB CTT MF TSFG RADS BAC COF RF STI HBAN IXYS RGR SKS BHS LVS AVF LYG BPFH ALD MHGC DIN GGP ACLS

STI a double in 5 days.
TSFG had a crazy run to 2.21 today, after going from .75 4 days ago,I shorted on the breakdown of 2 and it was all gravy, closing at 1.37.

WRES not on the list but an example of an artful pump job.

by far the most volume the last year, over 3 million, this ran to 1.19 before folding, begged to be shorted on $1 break,so that's what I did.
With over 1 million borrows on ib it was a gimme
Symbol: WRES
Availability: 1'300'000
Exchanges: ARCA, ATD, BATS, BEX,
Took profit eod at .74
It all adds up...keep your eye out for the pumps.

Today there where some awesome drops off last nights list if you could/wanted to locate borrows.

SUF ZN KPPC BYD CACB AXL NCT BEE all gave it up.

P.S. If you are an InvestorsUnderground member and in the South Jersey/Phila area I'd love to do some 1 on 1's at the local Barnes and Noble here (for free coffee of course!)...heck I'm there most weekends and love bs'ing about stocks,so let Laura and I know

GREAT SEMINAR LAST NIGHT

Chuck from Cy Group with with us last night and the information he had was just great.
If you've ever wanted to beat the pdt rule plus learn how to trade at the same time you should check out this seminar..

[Sun Feb 15 17:05:27 EST 2009] CyGroup Right, thanks for the intro, — obviously everyone knows that the PDT rule is very restrictive, even for a pro trader, securing 25k to trade is getting harder and harder… — in the world of prop trading, traders are allowed to join a group and trade the firms capital and thus overriding the PDT rule.

RFR LOSERS SCAN WATCHES 2/11

HERE

I hope also I can clear up a misconception here.
The basic RFR IS NOT SORTED IN ORDER OF ADR.
It is sorted top to bottom by how many times the stock has run 10-19% in the last 100 days.
As I've stated many times in posts about the RFR,THEN the stocks are cherrypicked by high dayrange AFTER the initial sorting of 10-19% runs.

Also with the 8% one day/10% 2day losers and fails scan they are sorted by a point total that is fully explained on the New Scan for the New Year thread that is over on the top right of this blog.

INO TV Trading Seminars

You may have seen the INO trading seminar link at the top of the page here. INO TV is a super resource for trading seminars and education on all types of trading. Daytrading, options, forex, etc.

They have over 500 titles and it's only $99 per year for unlimited access. Great deal imo. Check it out if you're looking for some trading education.

10/60 and VOLUME

There's a post here on IL Tellero's blog where the 10/60 cross was talked about and regarding the 10/60 cross with volume spikes I commented......

"The volume spike thing, imo, just makes a VERY good play regarding risk/reward rather than just a good one.
And again,at or very near even dollar crosses any 10/60 is just icing on the cake.
I’ve followed the same 5min, 2.5day, 10/60 cross going on 9 years now and the one thing that stands out to me and still holds true is that it works even with sells if you are long or shorts to open a position.
I’ve never figured out why,but it does.
Cavemen can’t always figure out why, they just go with the flow:)"

So if you'd like to look at some chart examples of stocks from the high dayrangers list on Friday so maybe you can see what I mean by volume spikes that occur very near the cross, either just before, after the cross,or right on the cross, maybe these can give you a clearer picture....using my 2.5 day,5 min chart:

HBAN the down cross at 3.47
FITB the down cross at 3.02
SEH the down cross at 3.75
AXL the down cross at 1.33
SFI the down cross at 1.14
PSTI the down cross at 1.80
MTG the down cross at 3.07
GFG the down cross at 1.70
SKYT the up cross at 1.32
