Holy smokes, 30 trades, you broker must love you. And I thought I was outa control with my 17. I only made 4 trades on DDR, how many did you make, just curious.

I can't believe I was stuck in meetings and missed out on DDR. I'm jealous, Muddy! Good day for you. I made a little on LCC, but had to cover early since I was going to be away from my computer. Anyway, 30 trades or 1 trade, any day you walk away with a profit is a good one. Let's do the same tomorrow!

Slot..

there were 8 trades each on both DDR and LVLT and 4 each both on GGP and GNW and a couple each on RHD SSCC JUPM CAR LCC
Seemed to be an awesome volatile day.
Actually with the IB commish, they don't get that much out of me...if I was trading with my other broker Scott...oh man

Cabeachbum...

LCC had almost a $2 range yesterday...turned out it was a great short...yes let's get 'em today!

Hate 'em.

I was totally outa control today making 31 trades. At $20 per round trip that's $620 for TDA and hella lot less left over for me. I need to go to a TA meeting, you know, Traders Anonymous, before I get killed by the commish.

This must be The Luxury League, 30 daytrades!! I can dream of that. 3 trades and I'm out :-)

Have a nice weekend!

Slot, you really should consider moving to IB. Your commissions would probably be 1/4 to 1/3 of that.

For example, 400 shares of DDR at $8 would be $4 round trip.

Hey slot, get tda to reduce your commissions, I used to pay the same as you, and then I told them some of my other firends were paying something like $7 per trade and based on the number of trades they will make you a premier client.
You get free transfer, free level 2 and some other stuff. IB is still the lowest, but I am not too crazy about their platform even though I will opening an acct with them soon.

good luck -dt74

Laura,
$4 round trip I can handle no prob.
Will have to give some serious contemplation going with IB. Appreciate the suggestion.

There was 4 or 5 trades that I really should not have taken, so I'm still fighting the problem of bad trade selection.

If I can get these two problems under control my P&L statement would look much healthier.

dt74,

After I figured out how much commish I was paying TDA, I did call them Friday afternoon and got them to reduce it to $7. Even at that rate, 30 trades will cost $420 and that's still a pretty big bogey to overcome everyday. I may just move my trading acct. to IB and leave my IRA's at TDA. That way I can still have access to their Motion Detector which is what I use to come up with money machines such as DDR and FDRY.

Will be rejoining you guys again next Wednesday.

yeah you are correct its still hefty fees to be paying but I have to agree I like their motion detector too. I keep it open too but I noticed the volume settings do not work properly, does it for you ?. For eg, I put in vol between 10k and 10mil but get stuff that are below the 10k volume too - cheers dt74

Laura, so with IB the commisions depends on the # of share with a min of $1/trade I think, is this correct ?, however if you did lets say 1k shares you'd still pay about $7/trade, is that correct ? does the value of the stock matter on what the commision would be ? - Tks -dt74

Yes, total trade value matters. Sure, flat rate may be better for some traders trading large positions.

IB's commissions are here:
