Thanks, I've been following along in the chat paper trading along with the alerts. I'm learning alot. I have my screener set up today to look at 10/60 SMA crosses over 2 1/2 days at five minute intervals with a candles as described in the GOS blog. Its amazing when I put in some of the stocks from yesterday how many of them follow this signal.
When you look at some of those crosses,I agree there are some huge gains to be gotten there. Don't forget, since I've found that it over the years seems to be even better for exits, that means it can set up some wicked shorting opportunities. Volume also, look for volume spikes. They don't have to be huge, just a rise in volume near the cross signal or 2 or more when the stock seems to be consolidating a little further back on the 5 min before it sets up for the cross...
Good luck and one thing about paper trading,in my experiance it's best to get your feet wet asap with real trading cause its a whole different world... Just start out with very small trades, say like $500 but with a few going on at the same time, gets you used to the fire!
i have done some real trading, with some ups and down, in October. i'm taking a break for a bit to learn some of basics (a step i skipped having real money at stake), but will re-enter soon with small positions as you suggest.
also, thanks for the additional advice on what to look for, and just for being so open with your experience in general.
i listened to your interview, and it seems like since the interview, you've taken up shorting (before I took it you only went long) with some great success (e.g. DIN, LVS, etc.)
Nice comment on 9/4 from Muddy about the focus of this blog and the chat room.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. We are trying to crank it up a notch as we go along. We are looking for NEW/FRESH plays all the time. Nothing wrong with the old same ones at all.it's just that ones that are "new" to you expand your stock knowledge base. You have to understand that almost all these "new" ones aren't new to me, I've been trading so long I know tons of stocks from the past. When they rear their head up every now and then it's nice to remember them...sorta like GBE today...an oldie I knew well in past. This is what we are trying to bring on,plus angles not commonly known for these under $10 stocks, pennystocking if you will.
